If you’ve driven the Bass Highway toward Phillip Island, there’s a good chance you’ve already seen Kilcunda without stopping. It’s the little town where the road suddenly opens up to a wide, wind-whipped beach and a rickety old trestle bridge, and most people just keep driving. That’s a shame, because Kilcunda deserves more than a glance out the car window. It’s quietly become one of the best coastal holiday spots in Victoria, and the people who do stop tend to come back. A Beach That Actually Feels Like Yours Kilcunda’s main beach is long, dramatic, and rarely crowded. Unlike some of the more famous stretches of coast further along toward Phillip Island, you can walk here for twenty minutes without seeing more than a handful of other people, even on a weekend.
